Dodgeball—while it’s a fast game of agility, alertness, and the will to win, it can also bring back ruthless memories of headshots from elementary school. But aside from any past dodgeball experiences in our younger days, what keeps us coming back to the sport is how exciting and social it is—especially when played by adults. So sign up for one of RCSSC’s co-ed. Dodgeball Leagues and conquer that reoccurring gym-class nightmare from 4th grade, or prove you still have your outstanding marksmanship that produced those reoccurring nightmares to begin with, and lead your team to absolute victory!

Because the idea of the River City Sport & Social Club is to play sports and be SOCIAL, all teams should patronize one (OR MORE) of RCSSC’s bar sponsors (Home Team Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings, Gus', On The Rox) after each game. These establishments care enough to support RCSSC (YOU), so socially supporting one of our sponsors by having a meal or a few drinks is important. Plus, beer-infused post-game downtime is an essential part of the RCSSC social experience, and these sponsors have been kind enough to offer a player special for all social RCSSC players--as long as they have their team shirt on. Who would say no?
(IT'S ALL IN THE BEARD: That beard adds 50 mph to the ball. You've been warned.)
There are 3 divisions of sports. They are based on athleticism and/or newness to the league. ALL TEAMS MUST BE SOCIABLE! NO EXCEPTIONS! Read the descriptions of the divisions below and find which is the best fit for you or your team.
Social: The Social Division is geared toward teams and individuals that play to socialize and have ADVANCED athletic skills. This doesn’t mean texting your BFF Jim-Bob while completing a cross-court one-legged spinning twisted sister shot for the W, but it's certainly the most competitive RCSSC division—just a heads up. And what’s great about the Social Division is that all teams compete in the playoffs.
Super Social: The Super Social Division is for those who are socializers, yet possess athletic ability worthy of giving the elementary school P.E. coach a run for his money—it’s about time. Super Social usually has the most teams and players. In this division the top 16 or 32 teams have end-of-season playoff games.
Extreme Social: The Extreme Social Division—for those who can run, throw, dodge, maybe catch, run some more and then talk at the same time. In this division you don’t need to be able to run a 4.5-second 40-yard dash—though it may put you at an advantage, but you do need to bring your basic athletic abilities—that includes you, Napoleon Dynamite. The Extreme Social Division does not have playoffs when there is a Social Division active in the Dodgeball League.
You may join any of the divisions, but discourage against the Social division for a brand new team to the league. There are no playoffs in X-Soc division when there is also a Social division in same sport.
Dodgeball is offered in the summer, fall and winter at Sports Center of Richmond (SCOR), 1385 Overbrook Rd., Richmond, VA 23220.
Summer: Games are played on Thursdays starting at 6:20 PM.
Winter: Games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting at 6:20 PM.
Social and Super Social will have playoff games for the top 16 & 32 teams in the league.
(WASN'T ME: Cutting the cheese isn't sportsmanlike.)
